DocuShield AI ("DocuShield," "we," "us," or "our") operates a self-help legal-document analysis platform. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, and the choices you have. By using DocuShield you agree to the practices described here.
DocuShield is not a law firm. We provide self-help software, not legal advice, and using DocuShield does not create an attorney-client relationship. Information you submit is not protected by attorney-client privilege.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored only as a salted hash).
- Documents and case content: the files, text, and answers you upload or enter for analysis, which may include sensitive personal information and protected health information (PHI) such as medical records.
- Usage and device data: log data, IP address, browser type, pages visited, and feature usage, used to operate and secure the service.
- Payment information: processed by our payment processor (Stripe). We do not store full card numbers on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide document analysis, assessments, and the other features you request.
- To create and maintain your account, enforce plan quotas, and process payments.
- To secure the platform, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
- To improve the service. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your uploaded documents or PHI to train third-party AI models without your consent.
3. Data Security & Encryption
We apply defense-in-depth safeguards to your data:
- In transit: all connections are encrypted with TLS 1.2+ (HTTPS).
- At rest: documents and sensitive fields are encrypted using AES-256.
- Access controls: role-based access, authentication tokens, and least-privilege internal access.
- Audit trails: access to case files is logged for accountability.
- PHI handling: we treat medical and health information with heightened safeguards and support HIPAA-aligned practices, including auto-redaction of PHI/PII where applicable.
4. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your account and case data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request deletion of your documents or your account at any time by contacting us, subject to limited retention required by law or for legitimate business records.
5. Sharing & Third Parties
We share information only with service providers who help us operate the platform (such as cloud hosting, payment processing, and AI inference providers) under contractual confidentiality and security obligations, or when required by law. We do not sell personal information.
6. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing (including rights under the GDPR and CCPA/CPRA). To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below.
7. Children
DocuShield is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date.
